Synopsis

Infinite possibilities….
Infinite passion…..
Infinite danger….

His touch spirals through me, warm and sweet, wicked and hot. I shouldn’t trust him. I shouldn’t tell him my secrets. But how do I not when he is the reason I breathe? He is what I need.

At the young age of eighteen, tragedy and a dark secret force Lara to flee all she has known and loves to start a new life. Now years later, with a new identity as Amy, she’s finally dared to believe she is forgotten–even if she cannot forget. But just when she lets down her guard, the ghosts of her past are quick to punish her, forcing her back on the run.

On a plane, struggling to face the devastation of losing everything again and starting over, Amy meets Liam Stone, a darkly entrancing recluse billionaire, who is also a brilliant, and famous, prodigy architect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it. And what he wants is Amy. Refusing to take “no” as an answer, he sweeps her into a passionate affair, pushing her to her erotic limits. He wants to possess her. He makes her want to be possessed. Liam demands everything from her, accepting nothing less. But what if she is too devastated by tragedy to know when he wants more than she should give? And what if there is more to Liam than meets the eyes?

To be honest, I’m not exactly sure how to review this book. So I’ll start by telling you that as soon as I finished reading the book, I sat at the computer to write my review. BUT, before I started my review I downloaded book two in the series…because I just can’t wait. And as soon as I’m done writing this review I’m going to cuddle down in my reading chair with my cup of hot chocolate and start Infinite Possibilities (The Secret Life of Amy Benson #2). And if I don’t finish it by bedtime…I’ll switch from drinking hot chocolate to Red Bull. Because that’s how much I’m loving this series.

I have to say that at first the writing style was hard for me to get used to. The story is told from Amy’s perspective and a lot of it is told in exposition and, in my opinion, it rambles a little. But, if I think about it, I ramble in my own head…so if I’m inside a character’s head I should expect to “hear” the same. There isn’t much dialogue, which I miss. I like a lot of dialogue between characters. But the writing style and lack of dialogue were soon forgotten as I was sucked into the story.

Ms. Jones has sewn together a tale of utter, life changing lust, sexual attraction with a suspense/mystery. Amy and Liam are so bad for each other for so many reasons (oh, no, I’m not telling you why…read the book), but they are so utterly right for each other at the same time. And are they H.O.T. together. Whoa. Liam is sex personified and had my heart all a twitter. Loved him. Amy’s character was just as well developed. As sexually aggressive and confident as Liam’s character is, Amy is the complete opposite. Tortured and chased, literally and figuratively, by monsters, she’s confused, conflicted and I could completely feel her emotions as I read her story. The character development was outstanding between the two leads. They’re flawed, chased by past demons, real, and relatable.

The secondary characters were not developed well and if you’ve read many of my reviews you know I generally complain about this. I love secondary characters. Sometimes they are the only reason a story works. As authors, we need them to create well-rounded worlds for our main characters. After all, our sexy guy and girl lead characters don’t live in a world of just two people…unless they’re on a deserted island or on a distant planet in space. However, in “Escaping Reality” the lack of development of the secondary characters was a great way to develop the characters. I know, you’re scratching your head and saying, “Huh?” But trust me. When you read the book it will make perfect sense.

The plot was incredibly well thought out. The book was well written, although, as I stated earlier, the writing style was hard for me to get used to. But that is a personal preference and has no bearing on how fantastic the book is. My one issue with the story is how quickly Amy, who is trying to fly under the radar, hiding from an ever-present danger, gave into a love affair with a stranger, even if he was the hot and smexy Liam Stone.

Bottom line: I’m going to make this short: LOVED IT. The ending is killer and will leave you panting for more, more, more…now I’m off to start reading book #2.
