Cover Reveal

Cover Reveal

It’s cover reveal time! I love covers. If they’re done right, they can tell a story all on their own. Working on them with cover designers is one of my favorite things to do in the publishing process. I have a really pretty one to share today.  It’s for Keren Hughes’s newest release. Take a look… Publisher: Limitless Expected release: May 30, 2017 Summary: The heart wants what it wants right? But what if it wants something it can never have? Love Me Crazy

Love Me Crazy

Love Me Crazy is the first book I’ve read by Camden Leigh and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a short, sexy read, full of angst and southern charm.   First line: “Five years ago, if you’d asked me what I’d be doing today, sitting in a red piece-of-crap car surrounded by the dead, heavy heat of summer on the driveway of a stereotypical plantation—yes, think pristine white siding, wide porches, and an avenue of geriatric trees during an afternoon thunderstorm—would be my last guess.” ~Cassidy   Cassidy and Quinn—the two main characters—are likable and relatable. They are both strong, […]

Worthy

Worthy

Worthy by Donna Cooner has so many layers that it’s hard for me to gather my thoughts to write a cohesive review. I picked up Worthy on a whim. The jacket cover sounded fun and different and I thought I’d give it a try. I’m not exactly sure what I expected, but I know I didn’t expect what I got, which was an awesome story with an even better message. Everyone at Linden’s high school is obsessed with Worthy. It’s this new app that posts pictures of couples, and asks: Is the girl worthy of the guy? First, it’s a […]

Romeo and What’s Her Name

Romeo and What’s Her Name

Romeo and What’s Her Name by Shani Petroff was full of cuteness, from the cover, to the title, to the story. Yet, I found that while the story was a cute, sweet romance (sort of. I’ll get to that), it touched on some deeper issues too, like the importance of friendship and learning about and accepting oneself. Emily was a great character. She was funny and smart and most importantly: she wasn’t perfect. She was relatable. One of Emily’s quirks is that she babbles when she’s nervous. Oh, wow, can I relate to that. I felt like I was reading about […]

The Matchmaker’s Replacement

The Matchmaker’s Replacement

Wow, this is like the third Van Dyken book I’ve reviewed in the last month. She’s going to think I’m a creepy stalker. I’m really not (Promise). I’m just catching up on all the reviews that need to be written that are piling up next to the stack of books in my TBR list that need to be read. Okay, so confession time. As much as I love Rachel Van Dyken’s work, and as much as I loved the first book in the Wingmen Inc series, I wasn’t hyped for this book. Why? Lex. As soon as I learned there […]

The Boyfriend App

The Boyfriend App

I picked up The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise on a whim. I was browsing my local library’s Overdrive account, looking for another book, and it popped up in the “suggested for you” area. It sounded fun and different so I decided to give it a try. It’s the first book of Ms. Sise’s that I’ve read. I was expecting a cutesy, swoony romance. I was pleasantly surprised when the story turned out to be about a high school girl who was somewhat of a hacking genius. Awesome. Yes, there was a romance, but it was surprisingly light. The majority […]

The Matchmaker’s Playbook

The Matchmaker’s Playbook

I know I’m going to sound like a broken record, but you just can’t go wrong with a Rachel Van Dyken book. Seriously. I don’t even bother reading the blurbs. I just grab the book and dive in. And I haven’t read one I didn’t like. The Matchmaker’s Playbook… what to say. First, I really liked that the story was told from the male POV. I haven’t braved writing too much from the male perspective, so I like reading anything from the male POV. And Ian Hunter’s mind is a virtual playground. He’s smug, cocky, confident, funny, and sexy as […]

Play

Play by Piper Lawson was sweet, sexy, and a little bit geeky. I’ve read a few books lately with game developers as the main character. I like that type of story line. I find it interesting. Maybe because it’s so foreign to me.   Max is obsessed with his business and the games he develops, almost to a fault. His head is stuck so far into code, he sometimes misses what is happening in life around him. Until Payton. She unhinges him—in the best possible way.   “…You’re my escape, Payton. Forbidden Dance

There are very few authors whose books I’ll read without looking at the synopsis first. Very seldom will I pick up a book based on the author’s name alone. Deanna Roy is the exception. I’ve read multiple books written by her (and her alter egos Annie Winters and JJ Knight). If I see a book authored by her… Done. Don’t need the synopsis. Just grab my tea or hot chocolate, download the book, and start reading.  And, oh yeah, fall in love with the story.
