Forbidden Dance

Forbidden Dance

There are very few authors whose books I’ll read without looking at the synopsis first. Very seldom will I pick up a book based on the author’s name alone. Deanna Roy is the exception. I’ve read multiple books written by her (and her alter egos Annie Winters and JJ Knight). If I see a book authored by her… Done. Don’t need the synopsis. Just grab my tea or hot chocolate, download the book, and start reading.  And, oh yeah, fall in love with the story. That’s a given.     Forbidden Dance, the first book in Deanna Roy’s new Lover’s […]

Feature Friday is a weekly post in which I highlight an upcoming release that I’m particularly looking forward to.   This week, my selection is…   After You Left Expected publication: April 1st, 2017 by Lake Union Publishing   Goodread’s Synopsis:   You want to know what the worst thing is? It’s not the embarrassment, or the looks on people’s faces when I tell them what happened. It isn’t the pain of him not being there—loneliness is manageable. The worst thing is not knowing why.   When Justin walks out on Alice on their honeymoon, with no explanation apart from a […]

Cheater

Cheater

There aren’t many authors I have on pre-order. In fact, I can count them on one hand. But Rachel Van Dyken is one of them. And Cheater, her newest release and the first book in the Curious Liaison’s series, is a perfect example of why.   Okay, I should start by saying I hated Lucas Thorn. I mean, we know from the title of the book what kind of guy he is, right? Then we flip it over (which, admittedly, I didn’t do until after I’d purchased the book because I’m fearless that way) and our worst fears are not […]

Don’t forget to share yours below!   My Music…   The awesomely talented Michael Johns whose songs are on many of my playlists. Here’s one of my favorites.     Oh, and I can’t share a Michael John’s song without this one. ‘Cuz, it’s just… wow. […]

Tell Me Three Things

Tell Me Three Things

Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum… well, I’m going to tell you three things.   First, I almost didn’t read the book because the anniversary of my dad’s death was just seventeen days ago, (at the time I’m writing this review) and I didn’t know if I was emotionally up to reading a story about a girl who’d lost her mother. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to review it objectively. I’m so, so glad I read the book. Even though Jessie is sixteen and I’m, well, not, I could still relate to her. Her character is real. She’s […]

It’s that time again… chase away the Monday blues with some music and MEMEs. Here are my picks for the week. Don’t forget to share yours below (or link to your post)!     My Music…   This song is from the playlist of a current WIP titled, The Stock. I love it. I know it’s one of those songs that’s played and replayed and then played again until people are almost sick of it. But, it has such an awesome message. I play it loud and sing along with it when I take my girls to school in the […]

Then he arrived. An emotional new novel from six-time USA Today bestselling author Deanna Roy   For four years, I’ve lived in almost total seclusion. The Bachelor Auction

The Bachelor Auction

You just can’t go wrong with Rachel Van Dyken. I’ve read a few of her books. Unfortunately, not all of my reviews survived the migration from Blogger to WordPress, but that’s a different blog post. The point is, I’ve enjoyed all her books. And the Bachelor Auction was no exception.   First lines: He’s senile. Last night he asked if I believed in unicorns.   The Bachelor Auction is a modern day take on the Cinderella fairy tale. And while Van Dyken takes some liberties here and there, changing things a little to make the story work, it was very […]

Love Me Tender

Love Me Tender

Love Me Tender, by Ally Blake, is the second book in the Cinderella Project Series. I read and reviewed the first book, Kiss Me Quick, which I enjoyed. I think, however, I enjoyed this title a little more. It had more of a Rom/Com feel to it, which I really liked.   On why Serafina wasn’t invested in finding “The One…”   Marcy joke that her ovaries were merely dormant. That one day they’d erupt and the explosion would be so astronomical it would block out the sun.   Serafina and Murdoch were interesting characters. I found them easy to […]

Gilded Cage

Gilded Cage

Gilded Cage by Vic James is set in a world where the Skilled, those with magical abilities, rule. The Unskilled are merely tolerated and, for at least a decade of their lives, work as slaves during their mandatory slave days.   Slave days are usually spent in slave towns. The conditions are horrible. Poor living conditions, poor and unsafe working conditions, not enough to eat, and just all around horribleness.   I thought this was a unique blend of dystopian and paranormal when the market for both can tend to become overly saturated with versions of the same type of […]

Don’t forget to share yours below (or a link)!   My Music…   My playlist song of the week is Maroon 5’s Payphone. You’ll see Maroon 5 a lot on my playlists. The playlist is for an untitled WIP. Kiss Me Quick

Kiss Me Quick

Kiss Me Quick by Ally Blake is the first book in the Cinderella Project Series. It’s a fun, sweet, and super cute romance. But don’t let that fool you into thinking there isn’t substance behind the sweetness.     It was a quick read. I read it in one sitting—just a few hours. But while short, it wasn’t short on feels. I really enjoyed the characters, especially some of the septuagenarians on the second honeymoon cruise. I only wish I could have had more of the quirky, meddlesome matchmakers! Kane and JJ were great characters and easy to like and […]
