Synopsis

Rose Zarelli, self-proclaimed word geek and angry girl, has some confessions to make…

1. I'm livid all the time. Why? My dad died. My mom barely talks. My brother abandoned us. I think I'm allowed to be irate, don't you?

2. I make people furious regularly. Want an example? I kissed Jamie Forta, a badass guy who might be dating a cheerleader. She is now enraged and out for blood. Mine.

3. High school might as well be Mars. My best friend has been replaced by an alien, and I see red all the time. (Mars is red and "seeing red" means being angry—get it?)

Here are some other vocab words that describe my life: Inadequate. Insufferable. Intolerable.
(Don't know what they mean? Look them up yourself.)
(Sorry. That was rude.)

Rose is having a bad year, to put it mildly.

Nothing is the way it was supposed to be this year, and it’s really pissing me off.

~Rose

Her family situation has taken a huge hit, her best friend is leaving her for the popular cheerleaders… and, to add insult to injury as my grandma would say, her crush is dating one of those popular cheerleaders. All things considered, Rose feels she has a right to be angry.

As I bend down to lace up, I realize I’m Angry today, with a capital A – I can feel it. Good.

~Rose

Rose was such an awesome character, cynical, brutally honest and sometimes mean. But somehow, the author makes the reader love her.

Romance, although present in the story line, isn’t the main focus of the book. And it works, while laying the foundation for the second book in the series.

Rozett wasn’t afraid to shy away from uncomfortable subjects. Rozett’s has a strong voice and captures teens perfectly. Definitely took me back to high-school my years, bringing back in neon color the jumble of emotions we all have to work through as we find our place in the world.

Highly recommend!
