“What gives you a thrill Kristen?”
I knew that giving in to Vincent Sorenson was a risk, but it was one I was willing to take. I had hidden my heart for so long and for the first time in a long time, Vincent was close to breaking down the walls.
When a trip to Vincent’s exclusive private island reveals the real Vincent underneath the layers of suave nonchalance, I thought we were close to the start of something special.
Just when things were looking up for us, I would discover the one secret that Vincent never intended for me to find.
“Secret Surrender” is the second book in the “Surrender Series” by Priscilla West. I started this book as soon as I finished the first book (Forbidden Surrender), I wanted to know what happened next in Vincent and Kristen’s story and I couldn’t wait to start this book. As soon as I flipped the last page in my Kindle in the first book, I loaded this book. I loved that the book picks up exactly where the first book ends.
My one gripe is that at the end of book one there is mention of View Spoiler » an event in book one and it’s never brought up in book two. So that left a hanging plot hole.
Again I loved the development of Vincent and Kristen’s characters. They are trying to navigate their new relationship while life throws new obstacles at them. This made their relationship seem real. After all, no relationship is perfect. There are always hurdles to jump, and Vincent and Kristen have a few big hurdles to overcome in this installment.
This was a short read and could have easily been combined with book one. I read it in one sitting. I liked the ending. Although somewhat predictable, it sets up the plot for the last book in the series. It was still a good ending and made me want to read the next book—which I started right away. Bottom line: I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first, but I did like it. I found a few things predictable, and, again, it could have used another pass of editing. But I enjoyed the book and I was eager to read the next book as soon as I finished it.
