The Woodlands by Lauren Nicolle Taylor

The Woodlands by Lauren Nicolle Taylor

It’s three o’clock in the morning (so forgive any typos—I’m so tired). I just finished “The Woodlands” by Lauren Nicolle Taylor and, wow, I really, really enjoyed it! This is the first book I’ve read of Taylor’s and I’m always a little apprehensive when I read something from an author I just “met.” Plus, it’s a dystopian, post-apocalyptic and I’ve been laying of that genre; I’ve read so many, I wanted to change things up. But I’m so glad I read “The Woodlands!”     Okay, you know the drill—I don’t give out plot info in my reviews. Like I […]

Let me know…I want to know what you think should happen!! Comment or email me at Michelle @ Michelle-Pickett (.) com Happy Reading! Pre-Order Now!

50 Reviews on Amazon…Meadow Scene ..

50 Reviews on Amazon…Meadow Scene from David’s POV

Okay, I promised when PODs received fifty reviews on Amazon I’d release a scene from David’s point of view. And it has 58 reviews–You guys ROCK!! I decided to give you a peek at a few different points in time. Hopefully you’ll get a sense of what David’s character was feeling during a time when many readers had trouble understanding his reasoning for his actions and were, to put it mildly, irritated at him. WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD! If you haven’t read PODs I strongly suggest you not read any further. Doing so will spoil a large plot twist in the […]

The PODs Open Tomorrow

The PODs Open Tomorrow

Tomorrow PODs officially releases so I’m giving you one more teaser and I thought it only fitting for it to be one that gives you a glimpse into Eva’s world during the last minutes before she leaves for the PODs…and beyond.  There has to be another way. Think, Eva, think…hurry. Make them let you stay. The closer we came to the school, the harder it was for me to breathe. It felt like my sweater was choking me. I pulled it away from my neck, My hands were clammy, my heart raced, and my mind spun trying to think of […]

Going Home and Counting Down…

BEA is over and I’m flying home today (I hate flying). I’m sure you’ll see a ton of photos and posts around the Internet about the Expo. I’ll share mine in a few days, but I’ll try to refrain from boring you (and making you jealous of all the free books I snagged) and keep my posts down to one. 🙂 In the meantime I’m gearing up for the release of PODs in two days. So here’s another snippet… “I can’t believe what you risked each night.”  (Eva speaking) “What do you mean?” David asked. “When you came to see […]

Two Weeks and Counting…

Two Weeks and Counting…

Two weeks until PODs is released. Here is another teaser… The spotlight shone bright in the dark meadow. I jumped up with a scream. It took me a millisecond to understand what was happening. “Run!” He looked at me, a pained expression on his face. “David, run!” He grabbed his things and ran into the brush. He made it to the tree line before the soldiers were able to find him again with a spotlight. I sighed, my shoulders slumping in relief. I didn’t know what they would have done to him, but I knew they wouldn’t let him inside the compound. They wouldn’t put him in […]

For the love of fans!!!

For the love of fans!!!

I have such mad love for my readers and fans. Although, the thought of having fans is foreign to me. I still stumble over that word. I don’t think of myself as the type of person to have “fans.”  Maybe just friends who happen to like a book I wrote. 🙂  But I can’t ignore the fact that, whatever I call them, they rock! And I love them for reading and enjoying my work. Today I was given the gift of my first official physical tribute to something I’ve created. Keren, you rock–you really do, girl. I can’t wait until […]

PODs Teaser Tuesday…

PODs Teaser Tuesday…

It’s less than three weeks until PODs releases and I thought it was time for another teaser… We packed up what was salvageable in the camp. The tents were ripped and unusable and most of the water was gone, running like mini-rivers across the ground. “What now?” “We walk to the next town and see if there’s a Wal-Mart or sporting goods store that hasn’t been looted so we can get some supplies,” David said. I stood in the small clearing and looked around. Everyone was packing up their supplies in hiker backpacks. Tin pots and cups clanged as people […]

PODs…one month and counting

PODs…one month and counting

I can’t believe the release date for PODs is just one month away! Here’s another teaser and song from the playlist… I woke when I felt the bed sag beside me. I didn’t look–I knew it was David. He snuggled behind me, wrapping his arm around my waist. He didn’t say anything. I drifted into a peaceful sleep, knowing David was close. He was gone when I woke. It was still black outside, with a pale dusting of moonlight outlining the window. I sat up in the bed, the springs in the old mattress squeaking. “Shh,” David said from somewhere […]

PODs Teaser Tuesday

PODs Teaser Tuesday

Okay, it’s time for another teaser. I couldn’t decide which passage to share this week so I decided to share a song from the playlist. This song relates to Eva in three areas of the book. One time is obvious. It’s when she leaves her parents to enter the PODs, but the other two…well, you might be surprised what they are. Happy Reading, Also find PODs at Barnes and Noble, The Book Depository.com or Wal-Mart

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday

It’s Tuesday so here’s another short teaser from PODs. This is a small glimpse of a sweet scene between David and Eva… I scooted down and moved his arm around me. We lay on our backs on the floor, looking up at the ceiling. “You ever think of what things would be like without the virus?” David asked. “A lot. Why?” “If the virus hadn’t hit we might never have met.” “I know,” I said, running my fingers through his hair. “If there’s one good thing that comes from this whole thing, it’s that I met you, Eva.” I rose […]

Two Month Countdown…

PODs is only two months away.  Here’s another teaser… The infected rushed the camp. Screaming and grunting they ran toward us, weapons raised over their heads. Devlin’s gun rang out. The smell of acrid smoke filled the air. The sound of banshee screams assaulted my ears.   Happy Reading! Michelle The Virus Attacks June 4th

PODs Teaser Tuesday…

PODs Teaser Tuesday…

Okay, today is supposed to be Teaser Tuesday, but, honestly, I forgot. I’m still riding high from signing the contract from the PODs sequel “The Infected” and finishing the edits for PODs last night. Plus, hopefully, I’ll be sharing some more good news within the next month or so. In addition to forgetting, I’m having trouble finding areas of the book that I want to share. Everything feels like a spoiler to me. Maybe because it’s my book and I want everyone to be surprised when they read it.  But, anyway, here we go: “The rioters screamed and cursed us. […]

PODs Teaser Tuesday

PODs Teaser Tuesday

I’m going to start sharing little teasers from PODs on Tuesdays. I haven’t decided if it will be a weekly post or biweekly, but here’s the first one… I stood in the middle of camp looking at the still, twisted bodies, at red blood dripping from blue tarps and pooling on the ground below. Oh, no, no. This is wrong on so many levels. And I’m about to puke from all this blood–or I might pass out, I haven’t decided yet. The Virus Hits June 4th! Michelle
